The effects of neck exercise in comparison to passive or no intervention on quantitative sensory testing measurements in adults with chronic neck pain: A systematic review.

Previous systematic reviews have identified the benefits of exercise for chronic neck pain on subjective reports of pain, but not with objective measures such as quantitative sensory testing (QST). A systematic review was conducted to identify the effects of neck specific exercise on QST measures in adults with chronic neck pain to synthesise existing literature and provide clinical recommendations. The study protocol was registered prospectively with PROSPERO (PROSPERO CRD42021297383). For both randomised and non-randomised trials, the following databases and trial registries were searched: AMED, CINAHL, Embase, Google Scholar, Medline, PEDro, PubMed, Scopus, SPORTDiscus, Science Citation Index and Social Science Citation Index from Web of Science Core Collection, clinicaltrials.gov, GreyOpen, and ISRCTN registry. These searches were conducted from inception to February 2022 and were updated until September 2023. Reference lists of eligible studies were screened. Study selection was performed independently by two reviewers, with data extraction and quality appraisal completed by one reviewer and independently ratified by a second reviewer. Due to high heterogeneity, narrative synthesis was performed with results grouped by exercise type. Three trials were included. Risk of bias was rated as moderate and the certainty of evidence as low or moderate for all studies. All exercise groups demonstrated statistically significant improvement at an intermediate-term follow-up, with progressive resistance training combined with graded physical training demonstrating the highest certainty of evidence. Fixed resistance training demonstrated statistically significant improvement in QST measures at a short-term assessment. Fixed resistance training is effective for short-term changes in pain sensitivity based on low-quality evidence, whilst moderate-quality evidence supports progressive resistance training combined with graded physical training for intermediate-term changes in pain sensitivity.

A bibliometric analysis on the health behaviors related to mild cognitive impairment

BackgroundMild cognitive impairment (MCI) is commonly defined as a transitional subclinical state between normal aging and dementia. A growing body of research indicates that health behaviors may play a protective role against cognitive decline and could potentially slow down the progression from MCI to dementia. The aim of this study is to conduct a bibliometric analysis of literature focusing on health behaviors and MCI to summarize the factors and evidence regarding the influence of health behaviors on MCI.MethodsThe study performed a bibliometric analysis by retrieving publications from the Science Citation Index and Social Sciences Citation Index sub-databases within the Web of Science Core Collection. Utilizing VOSviewer and CiteSpace software, a total of 2,843 eligible articles underwent co-citation, co-keywords, and clustering analyses. This methodology aimed to investigate the current status, trends, major research questions, and potential future directions within the research domain.ResultsThe bibliometric analysis indicates that research on healthy behaviors in individuals with MCI originated in 2002 and experienced rapid growth in 2014, reflecting the increasing global interest in this area. The United States emerged as the primary contributor, accounting for more than one-third of the total scientific output with 982 articles. Journals that published the most articles on MCI-related health behaviors included “Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease,” “Neurobiology of Aging,” “Frontiers in Aging Neuroscience,” and other geriatrics-related journals. High-impact papers identified by VOSviewer predominantly cover concepts related to MCI, such as diagnostic criteria, assessment, and multifactorial interventions. Co-occurrence keyword analysis highlights five research hotspots in health behavior associated with MCI: exercise, diet, risk factors and preventive measures for dementia, cognitive decline-related biomarkers, and clinical trials.ConclusionThis study provides a comprehensive review of literature on health behavior in individuals with MCI, emphasizing influential documents and journals. It outlines research trends and key focal points, offering valuable insights for researchers to comprehend significant contributions and steer future studies.

A Bibliometric Analysis on Poverty and Media Studies

Poverty is the inability of individuals to meet all or most of their basic needs to sustain their daily lives. Despite numerous proposed solutions throughout history for poverty, which is one of the greatest social and economic issues globally, the constantly evolving dynamics of societies have led to this situation becoming increasingly complex with each passing day. Therefore, combating poverty may require a multidimensional effort rather than a single dimension. Although this multidimensional effort is ultimately economic-based, it is crucial to consider it in conjunction with various factors such as social, political, cultural, educational, psychological, and even media influences. The aim of this research is to examine studies on media and poverty using bibliometric analysis method, and to contribute to the sustainability of discussions on media and poverty by identifying trends in research. In line with this objective, a total of 1491 research articles were included in the scope of the study, retrieved from the Web of Science (WOS) database, using the keywords “poverty” and “media” within the research subject, and limited to the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI), Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED), Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), and Arts & Humanities Citation Index (AHCI) indices. The bibliometric data obtained within the scope of the research was evaluated using graphs and visuals provided by the VOSviewer and Biblioshiny-R studio Bibliometrix package programs. Upon evaluation of the data obtained from the research, it was found that out of the 1491 research articles, 516 were authored by single authors and 975 were authored collaboratively. These articles were published in 1019 different journals by a total of 3789 authors. The results indicate that research on poverty and media has gained significance since 2020. Given that the subject of the research is poverty and media, researchers have predominantly used the keywords “poverty” (182) and “media” (79). These keywords are followed by “social media” (58), “covid-19” (39), and “inequality” (22). Additionally, the research reveals that the United States is the country with the highest number of conducted studies, with the most prolific authors being Mirjam Vossen, Van Gorp Baldwin, and Alem Adugnaw Zeleke. The highest number of the researches about poverty and media studies had been made by University of London in the United Kingdom. The journal with the most published articles is “Plos One,” and the countries with the most collaboration in this field are found to be the United States and the United Kingdom.

Use of Animal-Assisted Interventions and Children's Field: A Bibliometric Analysis

Aim This study aimed to present a world panorama of published articles on animal-assisted interventions in children and to highlight the characteristics of studies on animal-assisted interventions in children. Method In this study, a bibliometric analysis of the studies was conducted to analyze the trends of publications in the fields of "Animal Assisted Interventions" and "Child". The articles analyzed in this study were obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoS) database with search keywords. Inclusion criteria included English-language articles in journals published in the Science Citation Index Expanded or Social Science Citation Index. Results It has been determined that the trends of research on "Animal Assisted Interventions" and "Child" increased between 2020-2023. It has been determined that 80% of the research on "Animal Assisted Interventions" consists of research articles. It was determined that the most cited article (n=213) in studies related to "Animal Assisted Interventions" and "Child" was "Animal Assisted Intervention for Autism Spectrum disorder A Systematic Literature Review" and was published in the Journal of Autism and Developmental Disorders. Conclusions The results of this bibliometric analysis showed that there has been a growing interest in the topic of animal-assisted interventions in the children's field over the last 10 years. This study thought that the results of this study would contribute to the evaluation of the status of studies on animal-assisted intervention and guide future research in this field.

Publication performance and trends in virtual reality research in education fields: a bibliometric analysis

AbstractVirtual Reality (VR) technology has the potential to enhance education by providing immersive and engaging learning experiences that can improve teaching and learning outcomes. While there is a growing interest in utilizing VR in education settings, further research is needed to understand its pedagogical effectiveness and address associated considerations and challenges. This bibliometric study comprehensively analyzes 1,157 relevant articles from the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) and the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EPANDED) to gain insights into the current state of VR integration in education. The analysis revealed variation in VR adoption and research output across countries and institutions, underscoring the importance of collaboration and knowledge-sharing in the field. Key research areas and trends, such as the use of VR for skill development and training, were identified. Additionally, the study highlighted the need for more research on the pedagogical effectiveness of VR. The findings carry practical implications for guiding future research shaping policy decisions and advocating for a concerted effort to harness VR’s capabilities in education. This study serves as a practical roadmap, promoting the implementation and improvement of VR technology and fostering equitable and inclusive educational practices.

How do people in prison access palliative care? A scoping review of models of palliative care delivery for people in prison in high-income countries.

An ageing prison population with complex health needs combined with punitive sentencing practices means palliative care for incarcerated individuals is increasingly important. However, there is limited evidence regarding the models of care delivery in high-income countries, and their associated challenges and benefits. To develop a typology of models of palliative care provision for incarcerated individuals, synthesise evidence of their outcomes and describe facilitators of and challenges in delivering different models of palliative and end-of-life care in prisons. Scoping review following Arksey and O'Malley, with narrative synthesis. The protocol was registered prospectively (reviewregistry1260). MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, the Social Sciences Citation Index and grey literature were searched on 15th March 2023. The Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT) was used for quality appraisal. A total of 16,865 records were screened; 22 peer-reviewed articles and 18 grey literature sources met the inclusion criteria. Three models were identified: Embedded Hospice, Outsourcing Care and Community Collaboration. The Embedded Hospice model shows potential benefits for patients and prisons. Outsourcing Care may miss opportunities for comprehensive care. Collaborative Care relies on proactive prison-community relationships that could be formalised for improvement. Psychosocial and bereavement needs of those dying in prison and their caregivers lack sufficient documentation. Further research is needed to evaluate prison hospice costs and examine how prison hospices impact compassionate release usage. Beyond the USA, policies might formalise care pathways and recognise best practices. Further investigation to address psychosocial needs of people in prison with life-limiting illnesses and post-death bereavement support is required.

A bibliometric analysis of the technology acceptance model and the use of robots in tourism studies

PurposeThis study aims to focus on publications that jointly address robots in the tourism field and the technology acceptance model (TAM).Design/methodology/approachThis study adopts bibliometric analysis. Publications listed in the Web of Science database constitute the scope of this research. 51 publications were analyzed within the scope of the research.FindingsBetween the years 2017 and 2023, an upward trend in the number and citations of publications was identified. It has been observed that article studies are more prevalent compared to other types of publications. When considering the indexes of the publications, a significant majority were found to be in Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and Science Citation Index (SCI)-EXPANDED. The status of the keywords identified within the scope of the research in the abstracts of the publications has been presented. The keyword “robot” was found to be the most frequently occurring in the abstracts. The abstracts were also analyzed, and the publications were accordingly clustered into five distinct themes.Originality/valueThis study offers a comprehensive evaluation of publications concerning the use of robots in the tourism sector, framed within the context of the TAM. Within the scope of the study, the findings were interpreted using bibliometric analysis. The publications have been categorized into themes. The results presented provide insights into the necessity for further publications in this field.

The Application of Artificial Intelligence Technology in Shipping: A Bibliometric Review

Artificial intelligence (AI) technologies are increasingly being applied to the shipping industry to advance its development. In this study, 476 articles published in the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCI-EXPANDED) and the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) of the Web of Science Core Collection from 2001 to 2022 were collected, and bibliometric methods were applied to conduct a systematic literature of the field of AI technology applications in the shipping industry. The review commences with an annual publication trend analysis, which shows that research in the field has been growing rapidly in recent years. This is followed by a statistical analysis of journals and a collaborative network analysis to identify the most productive journals, countries, institutions, and authors. The keyword “co-occurrence analysis” is then utilized to identify major research clusters, as well as hot research directions in the field, providing directions for future research in the field. Finally, based on the results of the keyword co-occurrence analysis and the content analysis of the papers published in recent years, the research gaps in AIS data applications, ship trajectory, and anomaly detection, as well as the possible future research directions, are discussed. The findings indicate that AIS data in the future research direction are mainly reflected in the analysis of ship behavior and AIS data repair. Ship trajectory in the future research direction is mainly reflected in the deep learning-based method research and the discussion of ship trajectory classification. Anomaly detection in the future research direction is mainly reflected in the application of deep learning technology in ship anomaly detection and improving the efficiency of ship anomaly detection. These insights offer guidance for researchers’ future investigations in this area. In addition, we discuss the implications of research in the field of shipping AI from both theoretical and practical perspectives. Overall, this review can help researchers understand the status and development trend of the application field of AI technology in shipping, correctly grasp the research direction and methodology, and promote the further development of the field.

Root caries in older adults: A co-citation network analysis (1980-2023).

Root caries affect the oral health and quality of life of older adults. This study examines the breadth of global research on this topic, aiming to clarify its expansive scope and to shed light on pertinent trends for new researchers in the field. To identify key advances in root caries research as highlighted in high-quality articles from the Social Science Citation Index (SSCI) as well as to explore emerging trends and perspectives. Using the Web of Science (WoS) database, we conducted a comprehensive review of articles related to root caries in older adults. Our focus was on finding high-quality SSCI articles, identifying major contributors, journals and research trends and exploring areas such as dentistry, oral surgery and medicine for potential future research. Our analysis included 192 articles, each of which was subjected to bibliometric and VOS viewer evaluations. The results revealed a concentration of studies in dentistry, oral surgery and medicine, with gaps identified in areas like anthropology, biochemistry, molecular biology and chemistry. A notable deficiency was found in root caries management. We discuss research gaps and propose future directions based on our findings, emphasising interdisciplinary research approaches.

Assessing Structural Racism Measures on Health Outcomes of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders: A Scoping Review.

Limited literature exists on structural racism measures on health outcomes for Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AAs and NH/PIs). AAs and NH/PIs make up approximately 6.2% of the U.S. population and consist of diverse ethnic subgroups with distinct languages, cultures, religions, socioeconomic statuses, and historical backgrounds. The lack of disaggregated data collection and contextualized measures hinders our understanding of how structural racism affects health outcomes in these populations. We conducted a scoping review to assess the extent to which measures of structural racism are used in research with AAs and NH/PIs. Databases, including CINAHL, EBSCO, PsychINFO, PubMed, Scopus, and Social Science Citation Index, were searched for peer-reviewed articles on the measures of and empirical impacts of structural racism on AA and NH/PI health. We identified 23 full-text articles from a pool of 11,660 screened articles. Four articles were included in the final analysis. Among the selected studies, two studies identified an association between racial segregation and mental and behavioral health outcomes within AAs and NH/PIs. The other two studies found redlining on chronic health outcomes in these communities. These studies uncovered associations between government systems and policies and AA and NH/PI health outcomes. Existing measures may not adequately capture the complex relationships between structural racism and health outcomes in AAs and NH/PIs. Future research should contextualize and operationalize the multifaceted manifestations of structural racism unique to AAs and NH/PIs to achieve health equity.

Prevalence of physical violence against people in insecure migration status: A systematic review and meta-analysis.

This study summarised evidence on the prevalence of interpersonal, community and state physical violence against people in insecure migration status. We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis of primary studies that estimated prevalence of physical violence against a population in insecure migration status. We searched Embase, Social Policy and Practice, Political Science Complete, SocINDEX and Web of Science Social Sciences Citation Index for reports published from January 2000 until 31 May 2023. Study quality was assessed using an adapted version of the Joanna Briggs assessment tool for cross-sectional studies. Two reviewers carried out screening, data extraction, quality assessment and analysis. Meta-analysis was conducted in Stata 17, using a random effects model and several exploratory subgroup analyses. We retrieved 999 reports and included 31 retrospective cross-sectional studies with 25,997 migrants in insecure status. The prevalence estimate of physical violence was 31.16% (95% CI 25.62-36.70, p < .00). There was no statistically significant difference in the estimates for prevalence of violence for men (35.30%, 95% CI 18.45-52.15, p < .00) and for women (27.78%, 95% CI 21.42-34.15, p < .00). The highest point estimate of prevalence of violence was where insecure status was related to employment (44.40%, 95% CI 18.24-70.57, p < .00), although there were no statistically significant difference in the subgroup analysis. The prevalence of violence for people in undocumented status was not significantly different (29.13%, 95% CI 19.86-38.41, p < .00) than that for refugees and asylum seekers (33.29%, 95% CI 20.99-45.59, p < .00). The prevalence of violence in Asia was 56.01% (95% CI 22.47-89.55, p < .00). Europe had the lowest point prevalence estimate (17.98%, 95% CI 7.36-28.61, p < .00), although the difference was not statistically significant. The prevalence estimate during the migration journey was 32.93% (95% CI 24.98-40.88, p < .00). Intimate partner violence attached to insecure status was estimated at 29.10%, (95% CI 8.37-49.84, p = .01), and state violence at 9.19% (95% CI 6.71-11.68, p < .00). The prevalence of physical violence is a concern among people in a range of insecure migration statuses. Prevalence of violence is not meaningfully higher for people in undocumented status than for people in other types of insecure status. PROSPERO (CRD42021268772).

Hallin and Mancini: Two Decades of Influence in Politics and Communications

Since its publication in 2004, Hallin and Mancini’s model has become a pioneer in understanding the dynamics of media systems in different national contexts. Many studies related to politics that identify the patterns, trends, and variations used by communication systems in different countries and historical moments follow this seminal study to evaluate the formation of public opinion and the quality of democracy. For this article, we obtained 3,455 articles published in Web of Science within the Social Sciences Citation Index using the open-source software Science Mapping Analysis Tool, which we chose as a bibliometric technique for its feasibility in providing a conceptual structure through the spatial representation and disciplinary interrelation with fields like specialization, studies, and authors. By analyzing the co-occurrence of keywords, we drew scientific maps that enable the analysis of their conceptual and social evolution over consecutive periods. The results provide up-to-date information on the state of the model and its relevance in the field of communication and policy today, its strengths, limitations and potential areas of development. The findings identify less studied areas in the field, drawing inspiration from the Mancini model. This opens up a guide for future research by identifying themes and questions through bibliometric analysis.

A bibliometric analysis of artificial intelligence in L2 teaching and applied linguistics between 1995 and 2022

Abstract This study offers a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in the field of second language (L2) teaching and applied linguistics, spanning from the early developments in 1995 to 2022. It aims to uncover current trends, prominent themes, and influential authors, documents, and sources. A total of 185 relevant articles published in Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) indexed journals were analyzed using the VOSviewer bibliometric software tool. Our investigation reveals a highly multidisciplinary and interconnected field, with four main clusters identified: AI, natural language processing (NLP), robot-assisted language learning, and chatbots. Notable themes include the increasing use of intelligent tutoring systems, the importance of syntactic complexity and vocabulary in L2 learning, and the exploration of robots and gamification in language education. The study also highlights the potential of NLP and AI technologies to enhance personalized feedback and instruction for language learners. The findings emphasize the growing interest in AI applications in L2 teaching and applied linguistics, as well as the need for continued research to advance the field and improve language instruction and assessment. By providing a quantitative and rigorous overview of the literature, this study contributes valuable insights into the current state of research in AI-assisted L2 teaching and applied linguistics and identifies key areas for future exploration and development.

Literature Review on High-functioning Autistic Employees

This literature review aims to contribute to the field of autism and employment. It will analyse bibliographic data on peer-reviewed research on the benefits and challenges of a neurodiverse workforce. Similarly, it will examine the experiences of high-functioning autistic people in the workplace. Despite reports in popular media on the benefits of a neurodiverse workplace, including better innovation and company performance – there is very little academic research to support these claims. Of the limited existing literature, there are very few articles in business and management journals. This review gathers empirical evidence to test such claims. The research is based on high-functioning autistic people (verbal, with average or above IQ). Autism will be referred to as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) from here on, which includes Asperger syndrome under the criteria of the DSM-5.  Data from peer-reviewed research articles on high-functioning autism, employment and adults in the Social Sciences Citation Index were analysed to gauge the current trends in publication and citation. This database was chosen to limit the medical literature, which is extensive and an entirely different field. The data indicates that research on the experiences autistic employees, and their employers, up to recent years has been an understudied field. Based on the analysis used for this study, research and interest in this field began to emerge in publications in 2005. This review identified high-functioning autism as an increasingly important factor to consider in designing hiring and recruitment processes. It is also a significant consideration in conflict-resolution, communication and the training and support areas of management. Considering the steep increase in autism diagnoses over the past 30 years, coupled with the supports made available to autistic people up to third-level education; a more neurodivergent, educated talent pool is emerging which will change the way managers approach and manage diversity in the workplace.

Digital Teaching Competence and Educational Inclusion in Higher Education. A Systematic Review

This article presents a systematic review of the literature with the aim of providing an updated framework for the scientific production developed in the field of digital competence and inclusive education in Higher Education, as indexed in the Web of Science (WoS) and SCOPUS databases. Twenty-one scientific articles published between 2016-2023 were included and analyzed, with no temporal cohort established. The search matches yielded a first document of the topic of study in 2016 in the Social Sciences Citation Index. The results obtained on the conceptual structure of the analyzed documents were carried out through a multiple correspondence analysis (MCA) observing the existence of two dimensions composed of three clusters. Cluster one was composed of studies on digital competence, virtual learning environments, digital divide, and functional diversity, among others. Cluster two comprised studies carried out on digital tools and competencies, inclusive education, educational processes, and digital strategies; while cluster three was made up of educational inclusion related to interculturality and digital competence. Among its limitations, there were aspects related to the heterogeneity of the studies, which make it difficult to compare the data, and the sample and size of the study, which makes the results obtained and the generated data have a lower percentage of generalization compare to studies that use larger simples. This study has implications for researchers and Higher Education institutions interested in research on digital competence for inclusive education, with the possibilities of digital competence for inclusive education being established from the studied variables, allowing teachers to adapt and personalize learning to meet individual student needs. All of this is in line with the goals of the 2030 Agenda, concerning the empowerment of citizens and the digitization of public services to ensure the population's access to such services via the internet.

A bibliometric analysis of remote working practices: Call for future research.

According to Gallup survey report, 69% of U.S. workers moved to working remotely in April 2020. Due to COVID-19, work is changing rapidly, including where individuals work. Research in this field has drawn much attention, and in the last ten years, there is a constant augment in the number of publications on the same. Several works of literature on Remote Working (RW) culture have been reported. Nevertheless, only less research is present on bibliometric reviews of RW culture. Therefore, Bibliometric research is wielded in this work and a comprehensive review of relevant publications was taken from Scopus, Web of Science (WOS), together with the Social Science Citation Index Expanded. At first, meticulous bibliometric analyses of 430 published articles are done and descriptive information about a piece of work, namely (a) author, (b) title, (c) date of publication, et cetera, is provided. Mapping the scope along with the structure of the discipline is enabled by these analyzes, which discovers the instituted collaboration patterns amongst countries and organizations, and identifies authoritative papers together with authors. Therefore, the publication's evolution over time is illustrated by these analyses, and the current research interests and potential directions for future study are identified. This paper incorporates insights on remote working culture and enables mapping the scope and structure of the discipline, discovering the established collaboration patterns among countries and organizations. Enhancing Paternal Support: A Concept Analysis of Social Support for First-Time Fathers

Introduction. Social support, as a multidimensional concept, is studied across disciplines. However, examining the concept in relation to first-time fathers in the perinatal period remains an underexplored avenue. This analysis aims to clarify what social support for first-time fathers means through an operational definition that will assist healthcare providers in supporting fathers as valuable assets to the wellbeing of their partners and children. Design. Walker and Avant’s concept analysis approach is used to identify the attributes, antecedents, and consequences of social support for first-time fathers during the perinatal period. Data Source. A thorough title and abstract review led to the analysis of 41 articles from databases, including MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, the Social Sciences Citation Index, and Embase databases from 1970 to 2022. Results. Social support for first-time fathers can be described as a relational strategy and supportive intervention from both informal and formal sources. This concept analysis broadens the meaning of social support by considering structural and functional attributes. It offers fresh insights into how support can be coordinated across microsystems and macrosystems to address the distinctive requirements of current-day fathers within the intricate family dynamics. Furthermore, gender, cultural, and generational differences affect the preferences and needs of fathers, as well as their ability to support their partners and infants. Fathers preferred emotional support from their partners and sought informational and appraisal support from healthcare professionals. In addition, supportive relationships are characterized by proximity, reciprocity, congruency, and continuity during the perinatal period. Conclusion. Conceptualizing social support encompasses both upstream and downstream approaches across structures and systems to support fathers. Support for first-time fathers includes developing father-specific approaches to perinatal nursing care and practice. Social support carries implications for fostering socially inclusive policies, interdisciplinary curriculum integration, advocacy, and research aimed at improving paternal mental health and perinatal wellbeing.

A bibliometric analysis of telework research based on Web of Science via VOSviewer.

The COVID-19 pandemic has sparked increased interest in telework as a means of reducing the spread of the virus and maintaining social distance. This study aims to generate a bibliometric analysis of research progress and trends in telework over the past 20 years. A search of key terms was conducted in the Social Science Citation Index, Science Citation Index Expanded, and Arts and Humanities Citation Index categories for documents published on telework from 2000-2023. A total of 3,446 studies were analyzed using VOSviewer for co-citation, co-word, and cluster analysis. Bibliometric analysis revealed that telework research has experienced a significant increase during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the number of publications in 2022 being more than 15 times higher than that in 2019. The analysis revealed that the most commonly researched areas related to telework were applied psychology, management and business. The knowledge base focuses on the antecedents, moderators, mediators, and consequences of telework, and the research primarily centers around seven directions of well-being, mental health, and work-family conflict. A conceptual framework for telework research and suggestions for future investigation are proposed based on the results of the bibliometric analysis. This study provides an overview of telework research over the past two decades, highlighting the current status and hot topics in the field. It calls for wider and more active participation of researchers globally to advance the understanding of telework.

Global research trends on cardiac troponin and physical activity among pediatric populations: a bibliometric analysis and science mapping study.

Cardiac troponin (cTn) is a reliable marker for evaluating myocardial damage. cTn is a very specific protein involved in myocardial injury, and it is a key factor in the diagnosis of coronary syndromes. Bibliometric analysis was applied in the present work, with the main goal of evaluating global research on the topic of cardiac troponin in pediatric populations. Publications about cardiac troponin and physical activity in pediatric populations were retrieved from the Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE) of the Web of Science Core Collection, and they were then analyzed. The study was able to identify the key bibliometric indicators, such as publications, keywords, authors, countries, institutions, and journals. For the analysis, VOSviewer, R-based Bibliometrix (4.2.2), and MapChart were used. Initially, 98 documents were identified; however, once inclusion and exclusion criteria were applied, the number of documents decreased to 88. The search yielded 79 original research articles and 9 reviews, almost all of which were published in the past 2 decades. The total number of citations (Nc) of the retrieved publications was 1,468, and the average number of citations per article (Na) was 16.68. In general, 508 authors were found to have participated in research about troponin; they were associated with 256 institutions, and their work was published in 65 different journals from around the world. The authors hailed from 30 countries and/or regions. The year 2022 was the most productive year for the publication of the selected documents. The bibliometric analysis provided information regarding levels of cooperation among authors and institutions. In fact, China, the United States, and England were the most productive nations, and the journal with the greatest number of publications on the topic was Pediatric Cardiology. The number of publications and the trend line show that research on this topic has not yet reached a stage of maturity. There are referent investigators, countries, and institutions that have laid the foundations for subsequent studies on the analyzed topic.

Mapping the geography of editors-in-chief

Abstract Purpose This study aims to explore the geography of editors-in-chief to demonstrate which countries exercise the highest-level decision-making in scholarly communication. In addition, the study seeks to investigate the potential relationships between the origin and nationality of academic publishers and the geography of editors-in-chief. Design/methodology/approach The analysis involves 11,915 journals listed in Web of Science’s Social Sciences Citation Index (SSCI) and Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE). These journals employ 15,795 scholars as editors-in-chief. The geographical locations of the institutions the editors-in-chief are affiliated with were identified; then, the data were aggregated at the country level. Findings The results show that most editors-in-chief are located in countries of the Anglosphere, primarily the United States and the United Kingdom. In addition, most academic publishers and professional organizations that publish academic journals were found to be based in the United States and the United Kingdom, where most editors-in-chief are also based. Research limitations The analysis involves journals indexed in the Web of Science’s SCIE/SSCI databases, which are demonstrably biased toward the English language. Furthermore, the study only takes a snapshot of the geography of editors-in-chief for the year 2022, but it does not investigate trends. Research implications The study maps the highest-level decision-making in scholarly communication. Originality/value The study explores and maps the geography of editors-in-chief by using a massive dataset.
